Pakistan will host Bangladesh a two-match Test series starting on August 21. Ahead of the crucial home series that will be a part of the World Test Championship (WTC), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to announce the replacement of Wahab Riaz as team manager.

There are multiple reports that the PCB is mulling to appoint Naveed Akram Cheema as the team manager to improve discipline and performance.

What Happened To Wahab Riaz?

In July, the Mohsin Naqvi-led board sacked Wahab Riaz, who served as a selector and senior team manager as the team failed to produce results under his tenure, and there were reports of indiscipline within the team as seen in the case against Shaheen Afridi, where the left-arm seamer had troubles with coaching staff.

Talking about Cheema, who is the likely replacement, Cheema previously managed the team during the tours of Australia and New Zealand from December 2023 to January 2024. After these tours, he was replaced by Mansoor Rana, with Wahab Riaz serving as the senior team manager.

Bangladesh have already left for Pakistan to feature in the two-match Test series. There were concerns over the tour getting postponed or cancelled because of the ongoing violence in Bangladesh, but the tour will now go ahead as planned.
