The Buchi Babu Trophy, one of India's most venerable cricket tournaments, is set to commence its 2024 edition on August 15.

The tournament, which predates the Ranji Trophy, has been laden with talent and has offered a platform for emerging players to showcase their skills.

However, it is also a great opportunity for some of the experienced Indian players to prove their mettle and make a comeback into the Indian Test team.

Here's a look at three Indian players who  are going to play Buchi Babu Trophy 2024 with an aim to make it back to the national side.

3. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan will captain Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu Trophy 2024 which marks his return to first-class cricket after a long hiatus.

His absence from the latter part of the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season led to his exclusion from the BCCI's central contracts list.

Kishan's last appearance in a first-class match was in December 2022, and his participation in this pre-season tournament signals his intent to reestablish himself in red-ball cricket.

2. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is set to represent Mumbai in the upcoming Buchi Babu tournament as he looks to revive his Test career.

His brief stint in Test cricket included a single match against Australia in February 2023, where he scored 8 runs.

Suryakumar's return to the Buchi Babu Trophy 2024 will be a part of his broader goal to impress selectors with robust performances, aiming for a solid comeback in the longer format of the game.

1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer will participate in the Buchi Babu Tournament, playing for Mumbai against Jammu & Kashmir.

This comes after a period of recovery from a back issue that affected his form and led to his omission from further Test matches after playing his 14th Test against England in Vizag earlier this year.

With India's packed Test schedule ahead, Iyer's involvement in the Buchi Babu Trophy will be crucial as he seeks to reclaim his spot in the Test squad.
