Shoaib Akhtar, a bowler like no other, had an illustrious career for Pakistan. He was easily seen as the most destructive pacer during their era, if not ever.

The Pakistani great is celebrating his 49th birthday on Tuesday, and on this special occasion, let's have a quick look at how he took the world by storm by bowling the fastest-ever delivery in international cricket. Notably, the record is yet to be broken.

However, the highlight of the ball, which he delivered during the ODI World Cup 2003, was not how fierce it was, but how Nick Knight, the then one of England's greatest openers, played that one.

While the crowd were absolutely esctatic to see one of the greatest overs bowled by any player in the history of the World Cup, Knight played the delivery like it was a normal-paced one. Soon after, the big screen confirmed it was bowled at 161.3 kmph, which was 100.2 mph.

Akhtar recently joined fellow Pakistan cricketers to congratulate Arshad Nadeem, who won a historic gold medal for his country in the Paris Olympics 2024.
