Prominent Afghan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz had a torrid start to the ODI series against Bangladesh, being dismissed cheaply in the first game at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Opening the batting for Afghanistan, Gurbaz managed only five runs before Taskin Ahmed sent him packing.
The incident occurred during the second over of Afghanistan's innings after skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat first. Ace speedster Taskin Ahmed ensured a great start for the visitors, drawing the first blood for his side in the form of Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
The right-arm pacer initially kept things tight, conceding a single run off his first four deliveries. He followed it up with a beautiful out-swinger, outfoxing the swashbuckling batter in the process.
As Taskin pitched the ball up, Gurbaz charged down the ground in pursuit of a boundary. However, the only thing he managed was an outside edge, with Mushfiqur Rahim taking a sharp catch behind the stumps. Thus, Gurbaz, who has set high standards for himself in limited-overs cricket, went back to the dugout for five runs.
Rahmat Shah Joins Sediqullah Atal In The Middle
After Taskin Ahmed got rid of Gurbaz, dependable batter Rahmat Shah joined Sediqullah Atal in the middle. Atal, who starred with the bat for Afghanistan in the Emerging Asia Cup, has looked solid so far. He has struck two fierce pull shots, promising a swift recovery for the home side. At the time of writing, Afghanistan were 26 for one, with Atal and Rahmat batting on 18* and 1*, respectively.
