Bangladesh have found their newest superstar player in the form of Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The wily cricketer made his Bangladesh debut in 2016, and since then has improved gardually.

Mehidy to ready to replace Shakib in Test squad

The Tigers have plethora of bowling options to exploit in Indian conditions, but none more potent than Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The outcome of the India Vs Bangladesh Test series will depend on how the spinners function, and for Bangladesh, Mehidy will be their trump card.

The spinner has already played 45 Tests and has picked up 174 wickets, but it is his batting aspect which provides Bangladesh a boost ahead of the series. He was exceptional with the bat against Pakistan in the recent series and will be the key player against the Indian bowlers.

Ahead of the series, Bangladesh head coach, Chandika Hathurusingha, attended the pre-game press conference, and spoke in high-regards for Mehidy, and even going to the distance by saying that he is ready to step into Shakib Al Hasan's shoes.

"Miraz (Mehidy) I would say is the most improved Bangladeshi cricketer in the last five-six years. He's ready to take over when Shakib moves out," Hathurusingha said.

"He has developed his batting and obviously his bowling has always been his strength number one. And he's a gun fielder," he added.

There were many heroes for Bangladesh in their recent Test triumph over Pakistan, and one of them was Mehidy Hasan. The all-rounder showcased his prowess and was instrumental in a 2-0 lead whitewash of the Asian giants, Pakistan.

He picked up 10 wickets in the 2-match series, and also scored valuable runs with the bat (155), as for the first time, Bangladesh won a Test series against Pakistan.
