After going unsold for two seasons, Hasan made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2011 after getting purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Hasan's bowling shone in the first two seasons, but his batting really peaked in 2014, when the all-rounder finished with 227 runs, playing a crucial role in KKR winning their second-ever IPL title.
After a few underperforming seasons, KKR released Hasan, who then went to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2018 and dished out his best-ever IPL edition, scoring 239 runs and claiming 14 wickets.
