Lucknow Super Giants are not wasting any time as far as the preparations for IPL 2026 are concerned. As part of their new plan, LSG will reportedly send a group of domestic fast bowlers to South Africa to train with the Durban Super Giants during the upcoming SA20 league.

The SA20 tournament begins on December 26 and will run for a month, giving LSG the perfect window to help their players regain rhythm and confidence.

LSG pacers to train with Durban Super Giants in SA20

According to Cricbuzz, Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan are the leading names in the initial shortlist, while young left-arm pacer Naman Tiwari could also be added to the group.

The bowlers are expected to travel to Durban sometime next week. This move is mainly aimed at helping players who have been away from competitive cricket for a long time.

Avesh Khan has not played a match since IPL 2025, while Mohsin Khan missed the entire previous season due to injury. Both pacers are currently undergoing rehabilitation and have only just started bowling.

Training in South African conditions, under close supervision, is expected to speed up their recovery and ease them back into match intensity.

LSG have reportedly sought permission from BCCI as well, to avoid any protocol issues since none of the selected bowlers are currently contracted with the board or are involved in the domestic tournament.

One of the biggest advantages of this plan is the shared support staff between LSG and Durban Super Giants.

Coaches like Tom Moody, Bharat Arun, Lance Klusener and Carl Crowe are part of the Durban setup and also work closely with the IPL franchise.

Mayank Yadav unlikely to travel to Durban?

Interestingly, the LSG’s tentative list does not mention speedster Mayank Yadav. The pacer gained fame for clocking 150+ kph deliveries consistently, but injuries have hampered his career massively.

He missed the entire IPL 2025 due to a back injury and underwent surgery earlier this year in New Zealand. Yadav has been in rehabilitation ever since.

LSG did retain him, and Mayank Yadav has said that everything is on track and hopes to be fully fit in time for IPL 2026.
