There is a new development around India pacer Mayank Yadav as the right-arm seamer, who is struggling with frequent injury set-backs, is set to follow Jasprit Bumrah's path for recovery. Notably, Yadav, who was touted as the new big thing in Indian cricket, missed most of the cricketing action in the past year because of a back injury.
The LSG seamer also sat on the sidelines for most of the IPL because of his back injury. Mayank Yadav returned to action for the first time since October 2024 against Mumbai Indians. Still, he featured in just two IPL games this year as a fresh back injury ruled him out of the cash-studded league.
Mayank Yadav Eyes A Comeback In Indian Team
In the latest events, CricTracker reported that Mayank Yadav is all set to travel to New Zealand to consult with a specialist. Notably, Bumrah also struggles with back issues. When he suffered a stress fracture in 2023, he travelled to New Zealand for consultation and the same doctor examined the MI seamer when he suffered a fresh setback in the last Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in January.
One of the primary reason why the BCCI is looking to send Mayank to New Zealand is to prevent frequent injury set-backs and also help Yadav regain his speed as the speedster looked a pale shadow of his past version and struggled to clock 140 kmph.
The latest development around Mayank also indicates that the LSG star might be out of action for long and is likely to miss crucial series, which could hamper his dream to cement his place in India's T20I place. Yadav made his India debut in 2024 against Bangladesh and took four wickets in that series.
