With the IPL retention deadline date coming on October 31, news are coming thick and fast related to all the potential releases. There were several big names who were rumoured to enter the auction pool ahead of the next season, and one of the big names has indeed decided to leave his franchise.

As per a report by TOI, KL Rahul has decided to move on from the Lucknow based franchise and will enter the auction pool. TOI reports that KL Rahul was offered the top retention position in the side, but the captain decided to leave due to personal and professional reasons.

Several IPL franchises were put on high alert and the likes of CSK, RCB, GT and RR showed their interest in accquiring the services of the highly talented player. During the last IPL season, the Karnataka batter was involved in a heated exchange with LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, and from there on rumours started to circulate regarding KL's exclusion.

KL Rahul's Potential destination

The most likely destination for KL Rahul is a reunion with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The hometown hero has previously represented the franchise and knows the structure inside out.

Plus, with Dinesh Karthik retired, RCB need a solid wicket-keeping option and a potential candidate as well. Apart from RCB, KKR can also go after KL Rahul.

There are reports that Shreyas Iyer will also enter the auction pool and with their skipper gone, KKR will need to find a new leader and the right-handed batter could potentially be a strong captaincy option.
