Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is all set to begin a new journey, not on the cricket field, but in the education sector. The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has taken the decision to appoint Rinku Singh as a District Basic Education Officer (BSA), as reported by journalist Abhishek Tripathi.

Rinku rose to fame after hitting 5 sixes vs Yash Dayal in the IPL 2023 season. He then made it to India’s T20I team and is widely recognised for his power-hitting skills. Given his contribution to the field of cricket, the UP government has honoured the finisher with a big role.

Rinku Singh Joins UP Government As Education Officer

KKR finisher Rinku Singh has been reportedly appointed as District Basic Education Officer (BSA) by the UP state government led by CM Yogi Adityanath. 

Journalist Abhishek Tripathi broke the news and claimed that his appointment is being made under the International Medal Winner Direct Recruitment Rules-2022, a policy that gives government jobs to sportspersons who have made the country proud. 

A letter regarding this appointment has already been issued by the Director of Basic Education in the state. 

Rinku’s association with politics is not new. He recently got engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj. Their marriage was initially planned for November 18 in Varanasi, but it has been postponed for now.

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj have delayed their highly-anticipated wedding, which was initially set for November 18, 2025. The reason? Rinku's busy international cricket schedule, which has very little space for personal time. According to Amar Ujala, family sources have established that the couple will now wed in February 2026, with the date to be revealed later.
