Yashasvi Jaiswal batted his way throughout the opening day’s play against England in the second Test of India’s five-match home series. The dashing opener whacked his second century in the format, and his first since the debut special he tonked against West Indies last year.

Jaiswal ended up listing his career-best Test score, as he will resume the Indian innings on Day 2 at 179* alongside all-rounder and senior member Ravichandran Ashwin. 

The youngster received widespread adulations from all across the Indian cricketing spectrum, with several social media users praising his efforts on an action-packed day where no other Indian batter managed to score above 50.

Jaiswal even received a special congratulatory message from India’s white-ball specialist Suryakumar Yadav, who took to his Instagram account to share a unique post for the 22-year-old.

Senior Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav took to his Instagram account after Yashasvi Jaiswal listed his second Test match century against England on Day 1 of the Vizag Test. Suryakumar shared a picture of Jaiswal celebrating his hundred, and in the caption, he wrote:

“Khel gaya.”

The Indian T20I veteran also congratulated Rajat Patidar for making his Test debut. Prior to the series, Patidar was included in the Indian squad as a replacement for Virat Kohli.

Regardless, Team India finished the opening day at 336-6 from 93 overs. Apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal, no other Indian batter managed to outscore Shubman Gill’s mere 34-run knock. Debutant Patidar himself compiled 32 runs from 72 balls, while Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer also failed to capitalize on their confident starts.
