India’s middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer, once again, couldn’t make his opportunity count in the ongoing second Test match against England on Friday in Visakhapatnam. Iyer tried to cut a short-pitched delivery from Tom Hartley but the ball stayed low and took the under-edge to the keeper.

Wicket-keeper Ben Foakes was quick to react as he stayed low enough to take a terrific catch behind the stumps. As a result, Shreyas Iyer departed for 27 off 59 deliveries.

Once again, Shreyas Iyer got a start but couldn’t convert that into a big knock. The 29-year-old batter hasn’t been in the best of form, of late. Prior to this knock, he only managed to score 131 runs in the last 10 innings.

There are a lot of questions being raised over his form in the recent past. In the first Test match of the series, Shreyas Iyer scored 35 and 13. He has been getting the starts but somehow failed to convert them.

Rajat Patidar makes Test debut for India, Kuldeep Yadav replaced Ravindra Jadeja

Skipper Rohit Sharma announced three changes India made after winning the toss and opting to bat first in the second Test match. RCB batter, Rajat Patidar made his Test debut, while Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar replaced Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj, respectively.

On a good batting surface, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (14) got out early but his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal went on to hit his second Test ton.

England managed to keep themselves in the game by picking wickets regularly. Shubman Gill, who has been undergoing poor form in Test cricket, once again got a start but failed to make it count. He departed after scoring 34 off 46

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer took India closer to the 200-run mark by forging a 90-run partnership. The latter, however, got out against the run of play. Rajat Patidar, playing his first Test match, has come out at number four and stitched a pretty good partnership with Jaiswal.

At the time of writing, India are 225 for 3 in 63 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rajat Patidar are unbeaten on 125 (185) and 25(47), respectively.
