On Saturday, May 10, there were reports that India's star batter and former captain Virat Kohli is looking to follow Rohit Sharma's footsteps and announce his Test retirement. The news comes a couple of days after hitman bid adieu to red-ball cricket.
The recent development comes just before the England series as India will travel to the European Nation for a five-match Test series starting from June 24. Now the team from subcontinent will have a new captain, who will lead a new-looking team India for the new WTC cycle. India's Strongest Squad For England Series
Top Order: For the top order, India would look to replace Rohit Sharma with Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has had a brilliant domestic season. Further, Shubman Gill, who is most likely to be named as the new India captain will be there on the flight to England. Further, Yashasvi Jaiswal will also lead the top-order.
Talking about Virat Kohli's replacement, then Sai Sudharsan is the perfect replacement for India at No.3 as the southpaw has had a brilliant season with the bat across formats.
Middle Order: India aren't expected to make big changes to their middle-order and is likely to go ahead with the one named for Australia series. Notably, Karun Nair is one player who is most likely to earn a national call-up for the series as he scored 863 runs in 16 innings, averaging 53.94.
Other than Karun Nair, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Rishabh Pant will headline the middle-order line-up for India against England. Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel can act as a back-up keeper for Rishabh Pant.
