New Zealand and Australia are currently locking horns for the first Test match of the two-match Test series of Australia’s tour of New Zealand. On day one of the first Test, the home team won the toss as the hosts got to stumps at 279-9

After David Warner's Test retirement, the team management has shown faith in their most experienced top order batter Steve Smith to replace Warner as the opening batter. However, he could not stamp his mark as he was dismissed cheaply by Matt Henry.

Henry, who bowled a brilliant delivery at the right area, was well assisted by the keeper, Tom Blundell. As the ball swung late away to take Smith's outside edge, the keeper had to fly to his right and gooble a brilliant catch from front of the first slip.

Apart from Smith's dismissal, Henry scalped three more wickets - including the wickets of Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Lyon.

Later in the day, Australian middle-order batter Cameron Green scored his maiden century at number 4 in Test cricket. Thanks to Green's efforts, Australia got to a competetive total of 279-9 at stumps on Day 1.
