On Friday, June 6, England locked horns against West Indies in the first T20I of the three-match series. The Three Lions took a comfortable lead as the Harry Brook-led side beat the Windies by 21 runs. The hosts, batting first, put 188/6 on the board, courtesy of Jos Buttler's scintillating knock.

Notably, Jos missed out on a well-deserved century and amassed 96 (59), which featured six fours and four sixes. Despite a match-winning knock, the England star batter hogged the internet for wrong reasons as he scripted an unwanted feat. Buttler became the first England keeper-batter to get dismissed in 90s in T20I cricket. Overall, he is the fourth English star to have fallen into nervous nineties in the shortest format of the game. He joined the likes of Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan and Jonny Bairstow.

Jos Buttler Missed Out On A Second T20I Hundred

Buttler boasts a great T20I record as the right-handed batter has featured in 135 games and amassed 3631 runs, which includes a century that came against Sri Lanka. The 96-runs knock against the Windies is Jos' second-highest score in his T20I career.

Shedding light on the match, despite Buttler's century, Liam Dawson won the player of the match for his four-wicket haul. Dawson's brilliant spell, restricted Windies to just 167, resulting in a 21 runs for England to go 1-0 in the series.

Buttler Skipped IPL Playoffs For International Duty

In the era of franchise cricket, Buttler prioritised international cricket and left IPL after league stage to focus on the ongoing West Indies tour. The 34-year-old featured for Gujarat Titans and formed a formidable trio alongside Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. However, his absence left a big void in the Titans' playing XI and it resulted in GT crashing out of the tournament in eliminator against Mumbai Indians.
