Indian batter B Sai Sudharsan has revealed insights gained from conversations with Virat Kohli about overcoming setbacks, as he prepares for the upcoming Test series in England. The left-hander, selected for the five-match tour starting June 20th, also congratulated Kohli on RCB's recent IPL 2025 triumph.
Kohli Guides Sudharsan On Difficult Times
Sudharsan, one of three uncapped players in the squad, brings solid first-class credentials into the Test arena. Speaking to The Times of India, he expressed deep admiration for Virat Kohli's approach to the game.
"I just congratulated him after the final, it was a very special moment for him. But I've had a lot of conversations in previous years. What I've always admired about him is his mindset, the obsession that he has for the sport. I have spoken with him regarding those and how dealt with situations when he was not getting a lot of runs and finding it difficult. I think, as a cricketer, those are the times that you learn most, so I had conversations about that," Sudharsan said about Kohli's guidance.
The 23-year-old is buoyed by a stellar IPL 2025 season where he won the Orange Cap, amassing 759 runs for Gujarat Titans, though their campaign ended in the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians.
Sudharsan Ready To Carry Mindset Alongside Gill
Speaking to TOI Sudharsan also highlighted the value of his partnership with new Test captain Shubman Gill at the Titans, emphasizing Gill's mental strength.
"The biggest thing is the mindset, self-belief, the trust that he has in his ability. I've seen how he manages himself when he's not getting runs — that understanding of the game and life to maintain consistency. Then there are technical discussions as well which are also helpful," Sudharsan added.
Meanwhile, India A started strong against England A in the 2nd Test and stalwart KL Rahul seems to be prepared for the challenge at Headingley. Rahul scored a ton on the first day steering India A to a commanding position after Jaiswal's early wicket and overall looks in the form to take on the England challenge.
