KKR are interested in Jos Buttler and Arshdeep according to reports (Source:@KnightsVibe/X.com)
Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions took a bold call ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025, and decided to release their skipper Shreyas Iyer. They have retained five players which includes two uncapped Indians, and they now need to build their team around these players for the upcoming cycle.
So, with plenty of work to do in the upcoming mega auction, a report from Mint has revealed that KKR might bid for Jos Buttler and Arshdeep Singh. One of the major reasons for KKR's success in the last season were their swashbuckling opening pair and with Phil Salt not retained now, they are looking for a similar kind of opening batter. Jos Buttler fits into that role perfectly and also provides a leadership option. So, defending champions are likely to bid heavily for the current English white-ball captain who played a big role in Rajasthan Royals' success in the last few years.
Arshdeep Singh Might Lead KKR's Pace Attack In IPL 2025
Arshdeep Singh, on the other hand has been a regular in the Indian T20I team and is a gun-bowler in the format. He was the leading wicket-taker for Punjab Kings and was also the joint-highest wicket-taker for India in the victorious T20 World Cup campaign. He could lead the KKR pace attack if the franchise fails to buy back Mitchell Starc in the auction. Punjab Kings can still use RTM for Arshdeep Singh, but the pacer has recently unfollowed the franchise from his social media handles, which has sparked the rumours of rift between the two parties.
KKR would also be looking for a captaincy candidate in the mega auction, so it would be interesting to see how they go about their overall purse management.
