In an exciting news for the cricket fans across the globe, UP Nawabs have signed former West Indies legend and ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle for the upcoming season of Abu Dhabi T10 League. Gayle last featured in international cricket in 2021 and will mark a splashing return in the fast paced league.

Abu Dhabi T10 League, a unique 10 overs per side tournament was launched with the idea of adding more flair and entertainment to the already popular 20-over franchise leagues. 

The inaugural season saw huge success in 2017 and the tournament is set to return with its 7th season this year. Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024 is scheduled from November 21 to December 2 with Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi being the common venue for all 40 fixtures. 10 teams will compete in the race to the title.

Chris Gayle signs up for Abu Dhabi T10 League

Having said that, ahead of the season opener, UP Nawabs initially announced their 18-member squad for the 2024 season. However, in an interesting announcement, the Nawabs revealed that Universe Boss Chris Gayle will also feature as a player this year. Gayle will bat for Nawabs, this adding more firepower to a strong batting squad of the Nawabs. 

Gayle is considered ‘Universe Boss’ for his unreal dominance in the T20 format. The Jamaican has a total of 124 sixes in his T20I career spanning from 2006-2021. He also scored 1899 runs with 2 centuries and 14 fifties. 

The Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024 edition will kick off on November 21 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium with Team Abu Dhabi and Ajman Bolts clash in in the opening game.

Gayle, Dhawan showcase muscle in LLC

In the match between Gujarat Greats and Konark Suryas Odisha in Legends League Cricket, Chris Gayle and Shikhar Dhawan rewinded the clock. GG had lost early wickets when Gayle-Dhawan's vintage brilliance came just in time to help the Giants put up a competitive score on board. Gayle played a power-packed knock, smashing 34 runs and 3 sixes in the process. Dhawan supported him with a good 23 runs to stitch a 57-run partnership.
