Jay Shah Set To Unveil New-Look Arun Jaitley Stadium Ahead Of SA vs SL World Cup Game

Delhi is all in readiness to host Sri Lanka and South Africa as they play the fourth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. 

However, ahead of the high-octane encounter, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah will unveil the new-look Arun Jaitley Stadium, which under the watchful eyes of Delhi And District Cricket Association (DDCA) Rohan Jaitley has gone massive facelift. 

The stadium was renamed after former DDCA president Arun Jaitley, who also was Rohan's father. As per Inside Sport, all pitches have been relaid, the outfield has also been replaced and all old objectionable hoardings have been removed.

Apart from Shah, and Rohan, other dignitaries will also be in attendance for the unveiling ceremony, post which the World Cup match will begin.

The BCCI had allocated INR 50 crore to each of the 10 World Cup venues for renovation, and upgrades ahead of the marquee tournament commencement.

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals, who plays all their home matches in Delhi, also chipped in with INR 75 crore for stadium upgradation.

The stadium will host as many as five World Cup matches, starting with South Africa and Sri Lanka tomorrow ( October 7), followed by India and Afghanistan on October 11.

England will face Afghanistan on October 15, Australia will meet the Netherlands on October 25, and Bangladesh square off against Sri Lanka on November 6 in the final match at this venue.
