The Arun Jaitley Stadium is the second oldest cricketing venue in India having been established as early as 1882. Delhi Stadium is home to IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (previously Delhi Daredevils).

Formerly called the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, named after the nearby Kotla Fort, the iconic ground holds a rich and prestigious history and is much-celebrated amongst fans. A traditional venue with a capacity of 35,000, the Kolta ground has so far hosted 35 red-ball, 26 One-Day Internationals (ODI), and 7 T20 Internationals (T20I) between 1948 and 2023.

Notably, the stadium was renamed after the former Finance Minister of India, Late Arun Jaitley, in 2019, the same year Mr. Jaitley passed away.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report

Traditionally, the track at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium was batting-friendly and assisted spinners as the game progressed. The General conscientious has been that the track is good for batting and produces engaging encounters until the mid-2000s.

Over the years, the pitch has transformed into a low-and-slow surface, making batting tough from the get-go. The stadium faced sanctions in 2009 after the track was found dangerous during an ODI match between India and Sri Lanka, which saw the venue being banned for one year.

Despite regular attempts to reclaim old glory, the track at Arun Jaitley Stadium has failed to find its lost glory. The black-soiled pitch becomes crumbly and dusty as play progresses.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Batting or Bowling Friendly

The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi has been batting-friendly. The track generally offers an even pace and bounce, making it conducive for the batters to play their shots freely.

Having said that, the spinners might get appreciable turn in the middle overs. Nonetheless, the shorter boundaries make scoring easier for batters.
