'Technical Issue Like Pakistan’s...' - Ramiz Raza's Witty Dig After Graphics' Glitch

Ramiz Raja used a technical glitch observed on screen during Pakistan's ICC World Cup 2023 opening fixture as an opportunity to rub salt into the wounds of the team's faltering top order.

As Pakistan's top 3 batters failed to give a good account of themselves in the match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad on Friday (October 6), the former cricketer turned commentator compared their struggles with the graphic mishap.

For a brief passage in Pakistan's first-innings batting effort, fans and commentators couldn't keep track of scores due to a technical glitch, which meant that the graphics were not visible on screen during the live action.

The situation may have been frustrating for fans and those calling the game behind the mic. However, Ramiz took to the moment with fun and humour at the expense of his countrymen, expressing a sense of displeasure with the individual efforts of Pakistan's top-order men Imam-Ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, and skipper Babar Azam.

Present behind the mic during the time the fans were left bitterly disappointed by the untimely technical glitch, Ramiz compared the struggles faced by the Pakistani top 3 versus their inexperienced opposition and said they messed up on technique just as badly as those controlling the graphics did.

Ramiz's comments came in the period when wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan led Pakistan's recovery after they were reduced to 38/3 by the spirited Dutch side. The commentator didn't hesitate to let the Pakistani top-order players know they had made a mess of the situation at hand.

Heading into the low-key league stage encounter in the early days of the 2023 World Cup, Pakistan were considered overwhelming favourites. However, it took the rising associate side less than 10 overs to denounce those claims on the outside as the Netherlands brought their understated tactical nous to the cause and troubled Imam, Fakhar, and Babar with pace and spin.

While the opening duo of Fakhar (12) and Imam (15) was done in by Dutch's seam bowling pair of Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren, it was off-spinner Colin Ackermann, who accounted for the most prized scalp of Babar for just 5 runs off 18 deliveries.
