In an encouraging news for team India, ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah is on the final stage of his rehab and all set to make his international return in India's upcoming T20I series against Ireland. As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, Bumrah is bowling with full intensity at the NCA in Bengaluru and will be available for selection very soon.
Furthermore, as per ANI, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has also confirmed that Bumrah has regained full fitness. As a result, he will be considered by the selectors for the Ireland tour and could make it into the Indian squad, expected to be picked this week.
Notably, Bumrah sustained a career-threatening back injury, which ruled him out of the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year.
The pace spearhead was fast-tracked by India during the home series against Sri Lanka before the injury recurred to sideline him in the eleventh hour. He also missed the IPL 2023 and hasn't played a single match since September 2022.
Earlier, it was reported that Bumrah could make his much-awaited comeback in the Asia Cup scheduled in September. However, considering the promising signs he has shown at the NCA, the bowler could be seen leading the Indian pace battery in the Ireland series next month.
The news of Bumrah's comeback brings a sigh of relief to India, as they missed him badly in the Asia Cup as well as T20 World Cup last year. Given the impact he brings to the table, the right-arm fast bowler could emerge as their trump card in the ODI World Cup scheduled in October-November on home soil.
