Jasprit Bumrah To Get Another Lengthy Break; Pacer Set To Be Omitted From Bangladesh T20Is
Bumrah will be rested for Bangladesh Tests [x]
Jasprit Bumrah, the premium Indian fast bowler is set to get another break from cricket after the Test series against Bangladesh. As per PTI reports, Bumrah won't be a part of the India T20I squad for the series against the Tigers.
With a hectic schedule to come, which includes the Border-Gavaskar series and the Champions Trophy, next year, the BCCI are not taking any risk and will properly manage the workload of Bumrah. The right-arm pacer was India's best player at the T20 World Cup 2024 and was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
Since then, he hasn't featured for India, and will mark his return in the Test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19. For that, he has already started his preparations. Plus, with no important T20I event till the year 2026, the team management is not giving priorities to the shortest format of the game, and instead, have other goals to achieve.
Apart from Bumrah, Team India is also likely to rest Shubman Gill, who has been playing non-stop cricket for a while now.
Siraj to be dropped from T20Is after poor show
As per reports, Mohammed Siraj will be dropped from the T20Is against Bangladesh. In recent T20Is for India, he wasn't effective, and with new bowlers coming up, the selectors are looking at other options.
He picked up just a solitary wicket in the T20 World Cup, and also had an ordinary IPL 2024 by his lofty standards.
However, he has a chance to redeem himself in the first Test against Bangladesh. Siraj was selected in the squad for the first Test match, and he'll be eager to prove his doubters wrong.
