In a recent event, Jasprit Bumrah was asked about the fittest cricketer in the Indian team, and surprisingly, he snubbed Virat Kohli and picked himself. Those who have played with Kohli, those who have coached him will agree that Kohli is one of the fittest athletes across different sport, but Bumrah has a different take than others.

The amount of hard-work that Kohli puts on the field, and in the gym is commendable and this dedication makes him one of the best in the business.

Kohli's supreme fitness was witnessed by the audience during an IPL game between RCB and PBKS, when he ran from the deep mid-wicket region and had few seconds to react as he picked up the ball and hit the bulls-eye to dismiss Shashank Singh.

Bumrah receives online abuse for his 'fittest cricketer' statement

However, Kohli's teammate has a different take and put his name forward. Knowing that the interviewer asking the question wanted Bumrah to name Kohli as the fittest cricketer, the Indian speedster had a cheeky response ready.

“I know the answer you are searching for, but I would like to say my name, because I am a fast bowler. I have been playing for while...and being a fast bowler and playing in this country in the heat takes a lot of requirements. So I will always promote a fast bowler.”

While he drew a lot of praise for his answer, a section of people, particularly Kohli fans took it as an insult and sparked a war on social media.

Bumrah prepares for Bangladesh series

With the Bangladesh series just 5 days away, Bumrah has started his preparations. The Indian seamer will need to be at his best if India are to defeat a confident looking Bangladesh side.

After helping India win the T20 World Cup, Bumrah was declared the Player of the Tournament, and since then, the Indian seamer has taken a lengthy break to recharge his body. Bumrah will surely be rusty, but he will look to be amongst the wickets as India take on the Tigers in a two-game series.
