Bengal pacer, Akash Deep, who made his India debut against England has heaped praise on India's Jasprit Bumrah, calling him a legend and stating that he has been uniquely created by the god. Bumrah's is known as the greatest all-format bowler of this generation, and Akash Deep hasn't shied away from his praising his senior.
Having made his international debut in 2016 against Australia, Bumrah has quickly risen to the top and has become a top-ranked bowler across formats for the Indian team. He peaked at the recently concluded T20 World Cup, where he won the Player of the Tournament.
The right-arm pacer was out with a serious back injury in 2022, but has since made a successful comeback, and has quickly separated himself from his contemporaries.
In a recent interview with IANS, Akash Deep looked in awe of Bumrah, and stated that he is a unique bowler and it is difficult to replicate what he does on the field.
“Every bowler in the world has their own unique action and technique, and each one is great in their own way. I follow Rabada a bit, and Bumrah is a legend. It’s hard to follow him. ‘Bumrah bhai ko bhagwan ne alag hi bana k bheja hai (He has been uniquely crafted by God), and I can’t learn everything from him. I also observe Siraj and learn from him. I pick up small things from various bowlers, but I don’t follow just one bowler too much,” Akash Deep said.
Rohit Bhaiya makes life easier: Akash Deep
The Bengal seamer was at his imperial best in the recently concluded round 1 of the Duleep Trophy. He managed to pick up 4-wickets in the first innings, and then scalped a fifer in the second innings as India B defeated India A comprehensively.
It was due to his Duleep Trophy exploits that Akash Deep was able to cement his place in the Test team for the Bangladesh series. The pace bowler further hailed Rohit Sharma's impact on him, and stated that he makes the life easier for all the bowlers.
“I played my first match under Rohit Bhaiya in Ranchi. I was thinking about how difficult it would be to play my debut match for the country. There’s something special about him—when I played that first game, it didn’t even feel like I was playing for India. He manages things so well, talks in a way that puts you at ease, and gives simple plans that make cricket easier. Playing under him is a matter of luck for any cricketer."
The Test series against Bangladesh starts from September 19 at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and the second Test match commences in Kanpur.
