As per the latest reports, Rishabh Pant's fate for the series against Bangladesh is yet to be decided, as his workload management concerns the selectors since he is one of the most important cricketers for India in the longer formats.
If Pant is rested, then Ishan Kishan might seize a significant opportunity to return to the Indian side in the latter half of this year. After a period of absence from international cricket, Kishan's potential return is a beacon of hope, especially considering the personal and performance-related challenges he has overcome.
Kishan, who was last seen in international action during the third T20I against Australia in Guwahati in 2023, has an impressive T20I record. He has played 32 T20Is and amassed 796 runs, with a high score of 89 runs.
Kishan's century filled red-ball return
Despite his setbacks, Ishan Kishan has made an impressive comeback in red-ball cricket. Captain Kishan began by scoring a century on his return for Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu tournament and has continued his strong form in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, where he also notched up another century for his team, India C.
Shubman Gill Likely To Miss T20Is vs BAN
India's vice-captain Shubman Gill is likely to be rested for Bangladesh's three-match T20I series that begins on October 7 due to workload management.
Gill, who has played 21 T20Is till now, has a century and three half-centuries. Prior to this, he captained the side through the entire five-match series against Zimbabwe, where India triumphed 4-1.
It has also been understood that pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be given rest as part of the workload management requirements.
Meanwhile, Team India has begun practice ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
