In the latest development regarding the injury status of India's ace bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, the fast bowler is set to commence his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after going through all the scans under the watchful eye of the BCCI medical team. As per TOI, he is set to start with light gym training and even some bowling in the next couple of days.

The ICC has set a deadline day of February 11 midnight as the last chance to make any last minute changes in the Champions Trophy squad, however, as per reports, BCCI are ready to play the waiting game in Bumrah's case and could approach the event's technical committee at a later stage of the tournament to seek a replacement in case Bumrah fails to regain his full fitness.

TOI reported that even if there is a 1% chance, BCCI will wait for Bumrah, something which they did for Hardik Pandya during the 2023 World Cup. They waited for nearly two weeks before announcing his replacement. There is no update from the BCCI as the suspense continues to haunt the Indian fans.

India already lining up Bumrah replacements

India are already looking ahead and are lining up Bumrah's replacement. The star pacer was named in the ODI squad Vs England, but was eventually replaced by Varun Chakravarthy. They also have Harshit Rana in the team and the pacer played in the first two ODI games, which suggests that if needed, he can be the one to replace Bumrah in the Champions Trophy squad.

Technically, there are just two days left for the final squad submission and BCCI are sweating hard on the fitness of their major weapon in bowling. Bumrah suffered from a back injury during the fifth Test Vs Australia at SCG, and didn't bowl a single over in the second innings of the game.
