In a significant development, major reports suggests that India's star seamer Jasprit Bumrah has undergone scans at the NCA in Bengaluru and now the BCCI awaits the reports to make a decision on MI star's availability.
Notably, Bumrah, who suffered a back injury in the fifth Test against Australia early in 2025, is facing a race against time to get fit in time for the Champions Trophy 2025 that begins on February 19. It is worth noting that Bumrah is a part of India's squad for the upcoming event, but he isn't fully fit and had checked-in at the NCA a few days ago to get the last sets of scans done.
Bumrah's Fate To Be Decided On February 8
In the latest events, according to the Times of India, Bumrah has undergone all scans, and February 8 is the date when the BCCI will decide on Bumrah's availability for the Champions Trophy. Further, the report will also be sent to a doctor in New Zealand, who has treated Jasprit in the past.
"Once the medical team at the NCA completes their assessment, they will communicate their findings to the Indian team management. Bumrah’s injury update could also involve input from Dr. Rowan Schouten, a renowned medical expert from New Zealand, who was consulted previously when Bumrah underwent his first scan in Australia last month," Times of India reported.
At present, India are playing against England in the ODI series, and Bumrah is not a part of it. Further, it is likely that the Indian management might include Harshit Rana in the squad in case Bumrah misses out because of an injury.
