India’s stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah walked off the field during Day 2 of the SCG Test against Australia. The premier Indian speedster bowled just one over after the lunch break before heading to the hospital with visible discomfort.
While the exact nature of Bumrah’s injury was not disclosed at the time, the incident has sparked much concerns among Indian cricket fans, especially after team’s spirited fightback against the raging Australians in the series-deciding Test in Sydney.
Updates on Jasprit Bumrah injury
Jasprit Bumrah visibly injured himself during the post-lunch session on Day 2 of India’s SCG Test against Australia. In a video uploaded by Cricket Australia, the speedster was accompanied by team’s medical staff while making his way towards the hospital for precautionary scans.
As for the updates, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to unveil the exact nature and the extent of Jasprit Bumrah injury.
With Team India fighting on to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, and battling it out to secure a possible spot in the 2025 WTC final, Bumrah’s injury has left Indian cricket fans gravely worried, as evidenced by the recent reactions on social media.
Moreover, several fans are even praying for Bumrah’s speedy recovery, and hoping that the fast bowler makes his way to the field as soon as possible, especially with the 2025 Champions Trophy on the horizon.
As it happened, former skipper Virat Kohli assumed India’s captaincy duties after the fast bowler made his way out of the field. Kohli’s troops prevented the Australian tail from flourishing further as the likes of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Siraj kept the hosts down to just 181 in their first innings.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah took field at the SCG as India’s captain only after regular skipper Rohit Sharma opted himself out of the playing XI owing to his form issues.
