Dubai Capitals beat Desert Vipers to lift the title of ILT20 2025. Chasing a challenging total of 190 runs, Rovman Powell and Shai Hope stitched an 80-run partnership. Sikandar Raza added a finishing touch to accomplish a record chase and steer the Capitals to a title victory.

Capitals vs Vipers highlights: Obed McCoy stuns Vipers with dual blow

On the eve of the final, Desert Vipers batted first. However, Obeb McCoy wreaked havoc with the new ball to remove openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Alex Hales in the powerplay. 

Hales, the man in form, mistimed a big shot and holed out to Haider Ali at short mid-wicket. Moreover, explosive opener Gurbaz got a big top edge while playing a sweep. The ball went high up in the air and Sam Billings managed to leap a clean catch with his wicket-keeping gloves. 

While the Vipers had a disastrous start, Max Holden and Dan Lawrence had a 51-run partnership to salvage the damage. 


Capitals vs Vipers highlights: Sam Curran’s blazing knock pushed Vipers to a strong total

After Lawrence lost his wicket to Haider Ali in the 10th over, Max Holden and Sam Curran teamed up to add crucial runs to the board. Holden’s 76 off 51 balls gave a good platform and Curran unleashed carnage to ensure a fitting finish. 

He consistently hit 14 runs per over and accumulated 62 runs off just 33 balls. He smashed 3 sixes and 5 fours to remain unbeaten. Azam Khan also contributed with 27* off 13 balls and courtesy of a fiery finish, Desert Vipers put 189 runs on the board at the end of the first inning.

Capitals vs Vipers highlights: Mohammad Amir breathes fire 

Dubai Capitals entered the second inning with the new opening pair of Shai Hope and David Warner. However, David Payne ended Warner’s stay at 4 off 5 balls by cleaning up his stumps in the second over. 

In two big blows, Mohammad Amir breathed fire to dismiss in-form player Gulbadin Naib on just 5 off 3 balls. Naib failed to read the ball and was trapped LBW. Furthermore, Sam Billings also nicked to wicket-keeper Azam Khan as the Capitals were reduced to 31/3 in the powerplay.

With the chips down, Rovman Powell and Shai Hope knitted a match-winning 80-run partnership. Hope hit 43 off 39 balls whereas Powell hammered 63 off just 38 balls, including 3 sixes and 7 fours. 

He put the Capitals into a winning position before getting dismissed by Nathan Sowter in the 18th over. Sikandar Raza nailed a crucial 34* off 12 balls and Shanaka’s 21 off 10 balls powered the Capitals to a 4-wicket victory with 4 balls to spare. With that, Dubai Capitals were crowned the champions of the ILT20 2025 season.
