Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal once again showcased his fearless batting by taking on Australia’s ace pacer Mitchell Starc. During Day 2 of the fifth Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Jaiswal quickly made impact by smashing four consecutive boundaries off Starc in the very first over of India’s second innings.

The fireworks began on the second ball of Starc’s over. Jaiswal got off the mark in style with a short and wide delivery outside off at 139.9 kmph, which he cut over backward point for a boundary. On the next ball, Starc again offered width, and Jaiswal slapped it past deep point to the fence. The third ball was a length delivery outside off, and Jaiswal cut it behind square on the off side, beating the fielder at deep point.

To cap off the over, Jaiswal bent his back knee and drove a full delivery through the covers for a cracking boundary. In just six balls, Jaiswal had set the tone for India’s innings and sent a strong message to the Australian camp.

It was a pure exhibition of timing, placement, and confidence from the youngster.

India Start Strong Against Australia

Earlier in the day, India bowlers laid the foundation by bundling out Australia for just 181 runs in their first innings. Australia started Day 2 at 9/1, with Sam Konstas and Marnus Labuschagne at the crease. However, they couldn’t hold off India’s fiery bowling attack for long.

Jasprit Bumrah struck early, removing Labuschagne for just 2 runs. Mohammed Siraj followed up by dismissing Konstas for 22. Travis Head and Steve Smith tried to steady the innings but fell for 4 and 33 runs, respectively.

Meanwhile, Alex Carey and Beau Webster offered some resistance with a 41-run partnership, but their efforts were short-lived. Prasidh Krishna dismissed Carey, while Nitish Reddy took the crucial wickets of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. The final blow was delivered by Siraj, who removed Scott Boland to end Australia’s innings.
