The fiery rivalry between Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Konstas took another dramatic turn on Day 2 of the fifth Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The tension, which had already escalated on Day 1, reached its peak as Bumrah took a cheeky dig at Konstas during his spell.

The 19-year-old had gotten under Bumrah’s skin the previous day with a sledge, and the Indian pacer was ready to respond. Before the on-field fireworks, Bumrah had already let the young Australian opener know he meant business. Konstas had taken a few blows to the body from Bumrah’s deliveries early on in an attempt to hit him big outside the boundary.

As Konstas settled into a defensive stance during the first session of Day 2, Virat Kohli, always vocal on the field, said, "Yes Bumrah, there’s your man now," poking fun at Konstas for being so cautious.

After his spell, Bumrah decided to join in on the teasing since Konstas couldn’t manage to hit him big and ended up mishitting a bunch. He remarked, “He’s playing like a number 10," suggesting that the young batter was swinging hard but lacking the right technique.

The verbal sparring from Bumrah, as well as Yashasvi Jaiswal, earlier on the day seemed to rattle Konstas as he lost focus.

Siraj Pockets Konstas

Mohammed Siraj, capitalizing on the distraction as he bowled a clever delivery outside the off-stump. Konstas, unable to resist, edged the ball straight to Yashasvi Jaiswal at slips. The Indian team erupted in celebration, with a loud roar signalling their victory in this tit-for-tat exchange. Konstas, clearly frustrated, walked off the field with the Indian team celebrating the wicket with loud cheers.
