Uttar Pradesh cricketer and Rajasthan Royals star Dhruv Jurel is poised to make his Team India debut through the upcoming third Test match against the visiting English team. As per recent reports, the 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman will be replacing KS Bharat in the playing XI, as Rohit Sharma and co. attempt to put their best foot forward for the all-important Test in the context of the five-match series.

Jurel recently fleshed out handy runs for India A against England Lions, and has also emerged as one of the standout performers for Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan Royals since the past couple of domestic seasons.

Remarkably, not long ago, the prodigious batting talent also proved his mettle by overcoming seasoned Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja during one of the intra-squad matches in South Africa.

For his splendid run for India A, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan Royals in domestic cricket, prodigal wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel earned a ticket to travel to South Africa for two first-class matches in December 2023. The youngster was also included in India’s training line-up for a three-day intra-squad match in South Africa, where he was pitted against seasoned Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.

Standing up to the occasion, Dhruv overcame both Bumrah and Jadeja to register a majestic half-century, thus justifying his reputation as a potential star in the making.

Dhruv Jurel was drafted into the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England last month. While he was not included in the Indian playing XI in either of the two matches, the youngster was retained in the line-up for the final three Tests following the conclusion of the Vizag affair.

If recent reports are to be believed, Dhruv might well be seen making his international debut through the upcoming third Test match at Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The match will be staged between February 15 and February 19.
