Shardul Thakur, the ace Indian all-rounder is back with MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. He was released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of IPL Auctions 2024 and is now back with the team he has produced some brilliant performances in the past. Shardul Thakur has been bought for 4 crore who started the bid for the all-rounder and were in competition with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

CSK looked quite interested in Shardul Thakur right from the word go while SRH looked hesitant. Shardul Thakur has won IPL for CSK two times, firstly in 2018 and then in 2021 when he was the leading wicket taker for Chennai. However, he moved to Delhi Capitals in the 2022 season and in the 2023 season, again shifted to KKR, but failed to live upto the expectations of both these franchises.

Shardul Thakur is a quality bowler who has the ability to bowl both with the new ball and at the death. He is a handy lower order batter too, and MS Dhoni will be pretty happy with his inclusion in the squad. He provides the depth and Dhoni knows exactly how to make the maximum use of Shardul, with happy memories of their collaboration in the past.
