Arguably the most underrated bowler across formats at the moment, Kagiso Rabada is a world-class talent and it has been recognised by the IPL franchise as GT bought him in the auction for 10.75 crore amount.

Having played for several IPL teams, Rabada has plenty of experience of playing in the league. He is an efficient bowler at the top and can also chip in at the death and it makes him a valuable asset which the franchise is getting. Rabada's inch-perfect yorkers make him a valuable commodity in the game's shortest format and as a result he has generated interest inj the auction.

Bidding war for Kagiso Rabada

Rabada came in at number second and RCB raised the paddle, and they were joined by Gujarat Titans as the bidding war intensified. RCB and GT had a tug of war for the Proteas pacer as the price kept on increasing. The bidding war reached at 5 crore as RCB contemplated. MI entered the race as the price sky rocketed to 7 crore.

RCB for a brief backed out as GT and MI then had a tussle as the bid reached 8.25 crore. RCB entered the race, as their was a three way race for the express pacer. Gujarat Titans jumped in with a bid of 9.75 crore and RCB kept on pushing as the price reached 10.25 crore. Gujarat Titans led the race at 10.75 crore. GT eventually won the race and captured him for 10.75 crore.

Kagiso Rabada IPL career and stats

It was in the year 2017 when Rabada announced his arrival in the IPL. In 6 matches, they only scalped 6 wickets, however, the next season was his breakout one.

He skipped the 2018 season, and came into life the following season with a monumental effort. In just 12 matches, he scalped 25 wickets, and continued the momentum in 2020 when DC reached the finals.

In that season, the Proteas pacer grabbed a mind-boggling 30 wickets and was at his imperial best. In 80 IPL matches, the fast bowler has scalped 117 wickets, at an average of 21.97.
