The young Indian pacer and death over specialise, Arshdeep Singh has been sold to PBKS for INR 18 Cr in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The star pacer has proved his credibility for the Punjab Kings and India and hence the Kings will be happy to have acquired his services.
Notably, Arshdeep Singh has only played for Punjab Kings in the IPL before this. The Kings acquired his services ahead of IPL 2019 for his base price of INR 20 Lakhs. Before the 2022 season of the tournament, the Kings retained the left-arm pacer for INR 4 Cr.
Bidding War Between 6 Teams For Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh was the first player to go under the hammer. Chennai Super Kings opned the bid for the player INR 2 Cr. Even though it was looking like CSK will win the bid for him easily, thing soon heated up as DC joined the battle.
As the price went past INR 7.5 Cr, Chennai bowed themselves out of the bidding war. The next player joined in the bidding was GT. Delhi Capitals and the Titans continued bidding for the Indian left arm pacer till INR 10 Cr before Royal Challengers Bengaluru also joined the party. Soon, the Rajasthan Royals also joined in and the intense fight continued for the pacer. As it looked like Royals would swoop up Arshdeep Singh, Sunrisers Hyderabad raised the stakes of the player.
Ultimately SRH bought the palyer for INR 15.75 Cr. But the Punjab Kings enabled their Right To Match. The SRH asked for INR 18 Cr to let off the player and PBKS agreed to pay it.
Arshdeep Singh IPL Career
So far Arshdeep Singh has played 65 matches in the IPL and has picked up 76 wickets in them at an economy rate of 9.03 and a bowling average of 27. Arshdeep is known for bowling the difficult overs for his team. He infact bowled a very important over in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, that ultimately led India to the title win. Given his efficiency in the most important phases of a T20 game, Arshdeep Singh will be a valuable addition PBKS bowing attack.
