After a disasterclass in the first innings of the Perth Test match, Virat Kohli came out a different batter in the second innings as he looked composed and showed glimpses of his older self. The former India captain was determined to play a big innings and approached the innings differently.

By the time Kohli came out to bat, the pitch had eased out and the champion player had a great opportunity to take India's lead beyond the 400-run mark. He was leaving the deliveries outside the off but one delivery tempted him to try out something different and it paid off.

Mitchell Starc peppered Kohli with a short-pitched ball outside the off and the India batter was ready for the task as he opened the bat face and slashed it above the backward point region for a six. However, it was timed to perfection as the ball travelled fast and hit the security personnel sitting near the boundary ropes. The medical team attended him and the personnel was fine after a bit of assistance.

India's lead extended to 400 as Kohli eyes big runs

India lost three quick wickets after Kohli's arrival, but the legendary batter kept his composure and piled on runs at a decent rate. Majority of the damage was done by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a brilliant hundred and seemingly took the game away from the Australian side.

The good work was carried on by Virat Kohli as he looks to get some runs under his belt on a belter of a batting conditions. The batting surface has improved and Kohli will like to play a longer rope so as to set a big target for the home side.
