The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the upcoming Sri Lanka Women’s tour of India 2025. The two teams are set to clash in five T20I games, starting on December 21st.

The first two games of the series will be played in Visakhapatnam on December 21st and 23rd, respectively. The action will then move to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining three games of the series.

This series will be India’s first assignment after their successful campaign in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. They had emerged victorious, beating South Africa in the final. This was their first time winning a major ICC trophy. The two nations had co-hosted the tournament.

Schedule for India Women vs Sri Lanka Women T20I series

  • 1st T20I - Visakhapatnam - 21st December, Sunday
  • 2nd T20I - Visakhapatnam - 23rd December, Tuesday
  • 3rd T20I - Thiruvananthapuram - 26th December, Friday

Sri Lanka series replaced by Bangladesh tour

They were originally supposed to play Bangladesh Women in December. However, due to the political and diplomatic tensions between the two nations, the series did not go ahead. The series against Bangladesh has reportedly been postponed indefinitely.

The two teams were supposed to play three ODIs and three T20Is as part of the ICC Future Tour Programme. Earlier this year, the series between the India men’s team and the Bangladesh men’s team was also postponed. However, the official reason given for the postponement of the tour was a tight international schedule and the convenience for both teams at the time.

Meanwhile, the women’s series against Sri Lanka will be followed by the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. The women’s tournament is set to get underway in January. The Women in Blue will then tour Australia for a white-ball series in February and March.
