Bangladesh Women's tour of India cancelled [Source: @ICC/x.com]
The Bangladesh Women's tour of India that was supposed to get underway in December has reportedly been called off indefinitely. The series comprised three ODIs and three T20Is as part of the ICC Future Tour Programme. The diplomatic tension between the two countries is the reason the tour didn't get a go-ahead.
As per a BCCI source quoted by the Hindustan Times, "The series hasn’t received the clearance."
The exact dates and the venues for the series were not confirmed, but earlier this year, the Indian men's tour to Bangladesh was also called off. The men's series was originally scheduled to get underway in August but has now been postponed to September 2026.
However, at that time, the official reason given for the postponement of the tour was a tight international cricketing schedule and convenience for both teams.
BCCI plan to prepare alternate schedule for December
Now, the BCCI is planning to prepare an alternate schedule for a home series in the third week of December, which will also be India Women's first game since their title-winning campaign in the ODI World Cup 2025.
However, the series, if it happens, will be a short one because of the Women's Premier League (WPL) that will get underway in the first week of January, after which the Women in Blue will tour Australia for their next assignment.
The last time India and Australia met was in the ODI World Cup 2025 semifinal, where the hosts created history. They broke the record of the highest chase in a Women's ODI game by reaching Australia's target of 339 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues was the player in charge, as her 127 not out in 134 helped India book a slot in the finals. They went on to defeat South Africa in the ultimate showdown to lift their maiden world title in front of their home crowd.
