India To Host Asia Cup 2025; Ends 34-Years-Long Wait

In the latest developments around the next ACC events, India will host the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament will return to the T20 format. 

The information was revealed after Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) for sponsorships rights. It will be after 34 years that India will be hosting Asia Cup at their soil. 

Bangladesh To Host Asia Cup 2027

Notably, Bangladesh will host the 2027 Asia Cup which will return to the fifty-over format. India are the defending champions as they beat Sri Lanka in the finals in 2023. 

Taking about the T20 Asia Cup, it was held in 2022 when Sri Lanka  beat Pakistan in the finals. 

Unlike Women's Asia Cup 2024, only six teams will be part of the 2025 and 2027 Asia Cup. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are the five teams, while the sixth team will be selected through qualification. 

Meanwhile, the next edition of Women's Asia Cup will be held in 2026 and similar to 2024, it will be a T20I format. 

The recent document by ACC reportedly mentioned the schedule,  dates, formats, and venues but are tentative and subject to change. 

ACC's decision to give Asia Cup 2025 hosting rights to India comes amid a heated debate between PCB and BCCI over Pakistan hosting Champions Trophy in 2025. The two board have not come to any conclusion, as BCCI wants India games to be out of Pakistan, while PCB is hell bent on keeping the continental cup in Pakistan.
