Sri Lanka's Women team created history in Dambulla on Sunday, 28th of June with a win against India in the Asia Cup final. It is the first time, Sri Lanka have won the tournament and the scenes in Dambulla clearly showed everyone what it meant to the players and thier supporters.

India were firm favourites to win the game, but the way Sri Lanka played and sealed the game in the penultimate over with eight wickets in hand was a stuff of dream for all Lankan fans. The winning hit was also a six and what followed was a passionate celebration with all players charging on the ground with warm hugs and loud roars.

Talking about the match, India won the toss and decided to bat first and posted a compeitive total of 165 on the board. Smriti Mandhana was the top-scorer for India with 60 off 47 balls and the finishing touches were handed by Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh.

In reply, Chamari Athapaththu smashed 61 off 43 balls and led a foundation of the chase and then Harshitja Madavi  with her unbeaten 69 and Kavisha Dilhari with her 30 off just 16 balls sealed the deal for Sri Lanka.
