The recently concluded T20 World Cup will be etched in memories of Indian fan as Men in Blue lifted their second title. However, the USA leg was heavily criticised over the lack of resources and the odd hours at which the games commenced.

The games started late at 8 or 9 pm IST and 10: 30 am local time in USA. The move was criticised as none of the audience were happy over it.

Dravid on challenges of playing in USA during T20 WC

Meanwhile, former India head coach Rahul Dravid has defended the heavily-criticised US leg of last month's T20 World Cup, saying that "playing at odd hours" and coping with "challenging" facilities were necessary "compromises" to take cricket to a larger audience.

Dravid added that he was fine with the 10.30am (local time) starts and the infrastructure used for the games in New York, Florida and Texas. Notably, Nassau Stadium in New York was under the scanner because of its poor outfield.

"Yes, in terms of facilities, it's challenging. But if you want to grow the sport and make it a global game, then you have to be at events like this and make compromises, even if it means playing at odd hours in conditions that might not necessarily be perfect. Morning Games Were Fine..,'' Dravid said in a panel discussion on 'Cricket at the Olympics: Dawn of a New Era'.

Dravid coached India to their first ICC title in 11 years in the tournament.

"I don't think starting at 10:30am was a problem for me, honestly. We are in the entertainment business, which caters to people who want to watch the sport. I had absolutely no problem with it," Dravid said.
