Gautam Gambhir's Stint With BJP

After bidding farewell to international cricket, current India head coach Gautam Gambhir entered politics, joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 22, 2019, with Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Gambhir switched between cricket and politics as he mentored the IPL side of the Lucknow Super Giants while being active in politics. However, on March 2 2024, Gambhir announced his retirement from politics. Since then, Gambhir moved to KKR and guided them to their third IPL title before joining team India as their head coach.
