On Monday, September 23, PCB conducted the much-awaited connection camp in Lahore. The apex cricket board of Pakistan held a meeting led by chairman Mohsin Naqvi, which focused on laying a roadmap for the future. Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, Pakistan's two head coaches, attended the meeting with star players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Shan Masood.

Meanwhile, Kirsten, who was part of the group that suffered an embarrassing exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup, revealed that he pressed the team for three demands in the upcoming bilateral series and ICC events.

Kirsten's Three Demands From His Team

Kirsten stated that 'Professionalism, Unity, and Pride while playing for Pakistan' are the three things players should remember. He said:

"It was a fantastic time today to be part of this connection camp. I think the intention around it was to align our purposes for the team. I think we all agree we want the Pakistan team to be as successful as it possibly can be across all the formats. And we spend today just going through the various things that can help us and help the team be the best version of itself. So I think, from the team and the players in terms of their levels of professionalism, was one thing that we spoke about that was really important. And I think the commitments around making sure that they are. And present themselves as best they can for the for the nation, and to bring pride back into Pakistan cricket."

Pakistan Cricket: Lack Of Professionalism And Unity Within The Group

Kirsten's statements also hint at the tensions within Pakistan cricket, as there were cries that the dressing room was divided into two groups, something the coach himself reported to Mohsin Naqvi after Pakistan's early exit from the T20 World Cup.

Thus, professionalism and unity are two key demands Kirsten made of the players, as he was reportedly unhappy with Shaheen Afridi's behaviour during the T20 World Cup 2024. Talking about Afridi, the left-arm seamer injured his knee during his side's Champions One-Day Cup match against the Dolphins.
