On the eve of the big India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup Super Four 2025, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the team during their training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Saturday. The squad, led by Salman Ali Agha, is preparing for a high-pressure rematch against India.

Naqvi, who also heads the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), watched the practice session closely and spoke to the players to lift their spirits.

However, he avoided talking to the media and gave no comments about why Pakistan had once again cancelled their pre-match press conference.

This marks the second time in the tournament that Pakistan skipped their media briefing before facing India, sparking fresh speculation about tension within the camp. The team management gave no official explanation for the decision.

The build-up to the match has been tense. In their group-stage meeting on September 14, India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in Dubai. That game ended controversially when Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistan, which angered the PCB.

The board later lodged a protest with the ICC, claiming the match referee, Andy Pycroft, had told Pakistan’s captain not to approach India’s skipper Suryakumar Yadav for a handshake.

The PCB demanded Pycroft be removed from their matches and even threatened to pull out of the tournament. After an apology from the referee, the issue was put on hold, though the ICC is considering a formal inquiry.

Despite the drama, Pakistan beat hosts UAE to qualify for the Super Four stage, setting up another showdown with India in Dubai on September 21 at the same venue.

Meanwhile, Indian media reports suggest their team will stick to a “no-handshake” policy in Sunday’s match.
