Who could forget Afghanistan’s incredible underdog journey in 2023 ODI World Cup held in India? One of the biggest highlights came when Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in a historic clash. The win wasn’t just about points on the table, it was about belief and the rise of a team that had long been underestimated.

Rashid Khan, who is considered one of the best all-rounders in the world, once again showed how much he has done to take Afghanistan cricket to new heights.

Over the years, Afghanistan have grown into a competitive side, defeating big teams like England, and in this World Cup, they added another giant to their list, Pakistan.

In that match, Pakistan set a target of 283 runs. Afghanistan’s batters made the chase look surprisingly comfortable. Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave a strong start with 65 runs, Ibrahim Zadran carried the momentum with 87, and Rahmat Shah sealed the win with an unbeaten 77.

With these efforts, Afghanistan cruised to an eight-wicket victory. This was not just a win, but Afghanistan’s very first triumph over Pakistan in ODIs.

The result also brought Pakistan its third consecutive loss in the tournament, putting them under huge pressure. For Afghanistan, however, the victory gave their World Cup campaign a much-needed revival.

Earlier, they had stunned defending champions England, and now with Pakistan’s defeat, they were proving they could stand tall against the biggest teams in the world.

When Rashid Made Pathan Dance After Defeating PAK

What made the occasion even more memorable was the celebration that followed. Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan was seen dancing joyfully with Rashid Khan after the game.

The clip and pictures of their dance quickly went viral and showed the happiness and pride that the Afghan team carried with them after this special win.

Later, Irfan Pathan even posted the pictures on social media, saying that both he and Rashid had fulfilled a promise they had made.

"Rashid Khan fulfilled his promise and I fulfilled mine. Well done guys," he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, as of today, the star all-rounder turns 27 on September 20, just another joyful chapter in Rashid Khan’s inspiring cricket journey.
