The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, is nearing its business stage, as four franchises after the end of the group round have qualified for the playoffs, which gets underway from March 14.

However, the last group match between Multan Sultan and Quetta Gladiators did not fail to provide entertainment to fans, who witnessed a rather rowdy scene in the middle between Jason Roy and Iftikhar Ahmed, where the latter player ended up being reprimanded by match officials.

The match referee fined Ahmed five percent of his match fee after being found guilty of committing a Level 1 breach of PSL's Code of Conduct while playing for Quetta on Tuesday evening.

The star Pakistan all-rounder also violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which relates to “Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match”.

Ahmed was seen having a verbal go at Gladiators' batter Jason Roy in the third over of the second innings when the latter was talking with his partner Saud Shakeel about a DRS appeal.

The 33-year-old accepted the charges levelled against him and pleaded guilty in front of match referee Ali Naqvi, which resulted in no formal hearing.

Roy, who after his dismissal threw his helmet and bat in the team dugout seemingly escaped without any punishment.

However, Roy's behaviour did not go down well with former Pakistan captains Wasim Akram, and Mohammad Hafeez, who lashed out at the England batter in post-match analysis.

Iftikhar Ahmed will be next seen playing against Peshawar Zalmi in Qualifier on March 14.
