Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-Ul-Haq has opted himself out of the remainder of the ongoing PSL 2024 season. The 24-year-old, who has already featured in six matches for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise, will not be participating in their impending playoffs clash against table-toppers Multan Sultans on March 14 at Karachi’s National Stadium.

Naveen-Ul-Haq to skip PSL 2024 playoffs

On March 13, i.e., a day prior to Peshawar Zalmi’s planned PSL 2024 qualifier tie against Multan Sultans, Naveen-ul-Haq confirmed that he will not be participating in the remainder of the season.

As per reports, he will be joining the Afghanistan cricket team in the UAE for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland.

Naveen-ul-Haq picked up the key wickets of Shoaib Malik and James Vince in his most-recent PSL 2024 outing, leading Zalmi to a thrilling two-run win versus Karachi Kings. Overall, the right-arm fast bowler snared nine wickets across six appearances this PSL season.

Afghanistan team, meanwhile, will be facing Ireland in a three-match T20I series between March 15 and March 18 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. If Naveen finds himself in the playing XI, the matches will mark his return to international cricket since his T20I assignment in Sri Lanka earlier this year.

PSL and international commitment aside, Naveen-ul-Haq is also slated to join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise for the forthcoming IPL 2024 season. He was retained by the LSG management back in November 2023 during the IPL 2024 retention phase.
