Wankhede Stadium stands as one of India's most iconic sporting arenas, boasting a rich history and unparalleled glory. Few stadiums in the country can match its illustrious heritage. Located in Mumbai, this stadium has witnessed the full spectrum of emotions.

From the despair of India's occasional poor performances to the sheer jubilation of lifting the World Cup after 28 years, Wankhede Stadium has been a symbol of luck and pride for India. Today marks a significant milestone in the stadium's history, as it celebrates its half-century anniversary.

Taking to social media platform X, Sachin Tendulkar mentioned that Wankhede Stadium has been nothing short of magical. He reminisced about his debut against Gujarat for his state side, to retiring at the same stadium after his final Test match.

He also highlighted other significant records, such as lifting the coveted ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011. Tendulkar expressed that Wankhede Stadium holds a special place in his heart, describing it as his second home.

“When I witnessed the magic of the Wankhede Stadium for the first time as a 10-year-old boy, little did I know that I would be making my debut for Mumbai against Gujarat at the same venue just five years later. Then the best moment of my career - winning the 2011 World Cup for my country - happened at the Wankhede Stadium as well. I also had the honour of playing my 200th Test match here, which allowed me to bid adieu to my beloved game at the same place where it all started for me. Wankhede has not just been a stadium for me; it has been my second home”

What is happening at Wankhede Stadium?

Currently, Wankhede Stadium is playing host to the Ranji Trophy Final where Mumbai are up against Vidarbha. However, despite a promising opening partnership of 80 runs, Mumbai found themselves dismissed for 224 while batting first.

Sachin Tendulkar, expressing his disappointment, criticized his team for squandering their wickets after such a strong start. He took to X to voice his displeasure.

However, Mumbai have made early inroads to Vidarbha's batting unit as the score reads 31/3 at the end of the Day 1.
