Bangladesh's Towhid Hridoy incurred a 15 percent fine on his match fees for breaching ICC's code of conduct during the third T20I against Sri Lanka.

Hridoy's frustration surfaced post his dismissal in the fourth over of Bangladesh's chase. Sri Lankan bowler Nuwan Thusara clinched a maiden T20I hat-trick, dismissing Bangladesh's skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, Hridoy, and Mahmudullah consecutively.

The Sylhet track's low bounce favored Thusara, causing trouble for the batters. Bangladesh, ultimately, suffered a 28-run defeat, getting bowled out for 146 in 19.4 overs, with Thusara finishing with a remarkable 5/20. Captain Wanindu Hasaranga secured two wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka grabbed one each.

Hridoy's breach pertains to ICC's Article 2.20 of the Code of Conduct, concerning behavior contrary to the spirit of the game.

Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy admitted to the offense and accepted the imposed sanction. On-field umpires Sharfuddoula Saikat and Tanvir Ahmed, along with third umpire Gazi Sohel and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman, brought forth the charge.

Level 1 breaches entail a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum of 50% match fee deduction, and one or two demerit points. Sri Lanka clinched victory by 28 runs, sealing the three-match series 2-1. During the trophy celebration, Sri Lankan players gestured a timed-out celebration reminiscent of Angelo Mathews' historic moment in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
